Website Review: Dragon Age Inquisition [Good]

Description: This is the official website for the action-adventure game Dragon Age: Inquisition. This website contains game play information, news, player and support forums, game purchasing information, and game media.

Review: Best! Of the game websites I have reviewed this is my favorite. The top navigation bar has drop down menus for each link with all the most relevant game information. The top right has links for the game's social media sites and to buy the game. The middle is occupied by a rotating carousel of image links for the most recent game news. Below that are icons for each of the main sections of the website. These icons are from the game itself and serve as a nice visual link for the player. It also has an interactive map of the in game world. You can click on flags to learn more about the lore and mythology of the game universe. This site is my favorite because it is very user friendly, beautiful, and is a wonderful companion linking the player to the game.

Website Review: The Elder Scrolls Online [Good]

Description: This is the official website for the MMO called The Elder Scrolls Online (TESO). Like the previous game websites, this site contains game news, player and support forums, account pages, and game downloads/sales.

Review: This game website is just beautiful. It does a great job of showcasing the look and feel of the game while still being user friendly. There are two navigation bars. The first one contains links for your player account, the game store, and player forums. The lower navigation bar has links for game information, news, player support, and guilds (in game social groups). Near the top right there are large buttons urging you to buy the game now and to create an account, making it easily accessible for new users. As you scroll down you can click on image links for game news and game play information. The site is very well organized and a pleasure to look at with a consistent theme throughout.

Website Review: World of Warcraft [Good]

Description: This is the official website for the popular MMO called World of Warcraft. It is part of a larger group of websites for all the games made by Blizzard. All Blizzard games are easily accessible from each other. This website has news related to the game, forums for players to discuss the game and receive technical assistance, download the game, and log in to their accounts.

Review: This website is very well designed. The top right contains links to log into your account or receive game support. The top left contains a dropdown menu to navigate to other Blizzard game websites. Below that is the main navigation bar, which is logically laid out. There is also a large search bar that allows you to search for anything game related. As you scroll down you can read the most recent news about the game as well as forums posts and sales. The entire site matches the game and has a consistent theme.

Website Review: League of Legends [Good]

Description: This is the official website for the popular MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game called League of Legends. It contains game information, player forums, game news, the game download (it is free to play) and account pages.

Review: This site has a substantially better design than the previous game site. The top right corner contains two of the more important functions of the site: the game download and account login. The top left contains a logical navigation bar. The majority of the front page is dominated by the most recent news related to the game. As you scroll down, you can view other recent news items in chronological order. The site is easy to navigate while still being nice to look at.

Website Review: Final Fantasy XIV: The Lodestone [Bad]

Description: This is the official website for the MMO called Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. It contains information about the game, news about the game, forums for players to discuss the game or receive technical assistance, and the account management pages.

Review: This website is very poorly designed in terms of ascetics. The front page is a jumble of links and an assault on the senses. It has multiple navigation bars and displays recent/popular forums posts in multiple ways. This makes navigation confusing if this is your first time visiting the site. The top right of the page gives you the ability to buy the game or log in to your account, which is good because these are the more important functions.

Website Reviews

Hello!

My name is Erin Knapp and I am a computer science undergraduate student at FAU in Boca Raton, Florida.

I am reviewing a series of websites for my COP 3813 class, Introduction to Internet Computing. I have decided to review some of the game websites related to games I have played often. Gaming and game developing is a huge passion of mine. I feel that I can speak to the user experience of these websites since I have used them extensively. Note: these are not reviews of the games themselves, just their official websites. In the future, I plan on reviewing these games in great detail so stay tuned for that!
